A hotel team and its philosophy

A hotel with stories to tell
The Waldhof² has been around for a long time. It has been in our family since 1973 and has seen many guests come and go. It has survived the winds of change and seen good times and challenging times.
Ivo Mahlknecht was the original owner until his nephew Kuno took over the hotel in 1988. After Kuno’s premature passing in 2020, his wife Dorothea, their son Stefan and his girlfriend Jasmin took the reins, each adding their unique flair while maintaining the hotel’s longstanding and passionate commitment to hospitality.
And yet, they do not forsake their own passions: Dorothea seeks serenity in mountains all around the world, a journey she details in her book, “Über den Berg ... Mein Weg zum Glück”. Stefan channels his passion into photography, capturing the stunning views of his homeland. Meanwhile, Jasmin divides her time between South Tyrol and Sicily, where she tends to the hotel’s olive grove.
Thanks to their collective efforts, the Waldhof² has undergone a process of modernisation, expansion and thoughtful redesign. Despite these changes, it remains more than just a hotel; it’s a place where people feel at home. Here, guests are enveloped in tranquillity, connected with nature and encouraged to reconnect with themselves.

These precious stones, sourced from around the globe, were meticulously gathered, purchased and traded by Ivo Mahlknecht, Kuno’s uncle, over the years. Allow these vibrant, striking minerals to touch your soul, as they are also a vital part of nature.
